it is free to download and install the 2015 Community Edition of Visual Studio. You can download the installer from the url below:

Visual Studio Downloads

This will be the version used in college after summer 2017, i will also monitor when the 2017 edition is released. At the moment the 2017 editions are for trial only.

The overall disk space required is approximately 8gb, the alternative is MonoDevelop / Xamarin Studio
